What a disgusting experience I have had today at Argos, Sunderland North, SR5 3JG. I bought a Scholl Foot File a few days ago using Click and Collect service and today I went to collect it. When I checked the item against the receipt it turned out I had been given the wrong item, I was still in Argos so I went back to say it was the wrong item. I was seen by a salesperson called Calvin who looked it up on his hand held. It showed the one I had been given, so he checked it against the image in my order which was completely different. At first all he could say was that the packaging had been updated and I had been given the newer version. Which I knew was not true, not the least because it had a different name. After a few minutes of me insisting that it was not the one I had ordered (mainly different name and image) Calvin then insisted that I must have ordered the wrong item, even though the correct item number is on the order receipt. I kept insisting that Argos sold 2 different versions and I had been given the wrong one. Then the arrogance of Calvin kicked in, he actually said "YOU PROVE THAT ARGOS SELL 2 DIFFERENT TYPES." Which I did easily using the store system. He then tried to convince me that it had the same type of items in both packages so they must be the same. Tell that to Scholl who would have spent millions on developing these two products only to be told, they are exactly the same. After a few minutes of that Calvin went out the back of the Argos area (corner of a supermarket) to check and amazingly came back with exactly the same item in a box, and even more amazing tryed to pass that off as the missing item. How arrogant can you get? After realising that I wasn't going to fall for it, he admitted they had messed up, put aside the wrong item and had none of the item I had bought via Click and Collect left. Reluctantly he had to refund the money that had been paid to buy the item. But not before checking other stores for the item, he found one, so I said only if FREE HOME DELIVERY was included, Calvin said "Can't do that", so I declined, already wasted my time because of Argos' incompetence. Again Calvin reluctantly completed the refund, and put a 10% discount voucher through the till and started the speech "Because we made a mistake we would like to offer you this discount voucher on your next purchase ..." I declined again, so he cancelled the voucher and ripped it up (not very happy), like I would ever use Argos again after this experience.
So basically, Argos - Sunderland North sold a product on Click and Collect and then sold it again. Instead of owning up to a genuine mistake, an employee called Calvin proceeded to try and scam a customer into accepting a different product claiming it to be the genuine. Lots of programs on tv about this type of crime
