Missed a delivery?

There are four options for you to get the item you missed:

  • Arrange a free redelivery to your house.
  • Arrange a free redelivery to an alternative local address
  • Arrange a redelivery to a Post Office® for a nominal fee and collect it from there.
  • Want your item as soon as possible? Then pick it up in person from your local delivery office – the address will be on the Something for you card

How to Collect my item?

The fastest way to get your item is to collect it from your local Customer Service Point (CSP). Your card will give details of where this is and the opening hours. It will also tell you how long to wait before trying to collect.

They will hold items for 18 days. If they’re not redelivered or collected in that time, they will return them to the sender.

Can I cancel or change my Redelivery?

Once a Redelivery is booked it can’t be cancelled or changed. That means your Redelivery will go ahead as ordered. Book another Redelivery online for a date after the original attempt. Pick your item up from your local Customer Service Point before the day of the booked Redelivery.

Royal Mail Redelivery Identification

To keep your mail as secure as possible, they require proof of identification to be shown when it is collected from a Royal Mail delivery office or a Post Office.

Please ensure you take with you:

AND one of the following in the name of the person the item is addressed to:

  • Credit or debit card.
  • Bank or building society cheque/savings book.
  • Valid Passport.
  • Driving License.
  • NHS Medical Card.
  • Photo Identity Card (Foreign National, Military, Police Warrant, Royal Mail Employee,
  • NHS or senior citizen bus pass).

If you’re collecting mail for someone else, please bring the card and one of the above items in the name of the person the item is addressed to.

What happens if you miss a Royal Mail redelivery?
You can rearrange another Redelivery online. Please remember we need two working days before attempting another delivery. You can also arrange to have your item redelivered to a local Post Office® branch. You can do this on the Redelivery form.

Does Royal Mail automatically redeliver?
You don’t need to book a Redelivery or collect your mail if you’ve received a yellow card, we’ll automatically try and deliver it again the next working day. If we still can’t deliver it, then we’ll leave a red ‘Something for you’ card and you can collect it or have it redelivered in the usual way.

How long does redelivery take from Royal Mail?
We need two working days to arrange a Redelivery, only available dates will appear. Please remember we also don’t deliver on Bank Holidays. Your item was sent by Special Delivery Guaranteed® or is an international item which requires a signature. For security reasons these items can’t be redelivered to another address.
